Shangai also expresses a heteronomous identity and encourages us to give our minds space to play. On the one hand, behind the game of Mikado, which shares its name with the comic opera that celebrated a spectacular premiere in 1885, Cametti has concealed a quantum of intercontinental institutional criticism. On the other, the number of photographs of the thigh bone, which was used to make the Mikado sticks, refers back to the number of conflicts raging around the world in 2011. That was also the year that carcinogens were found in the smog hanging over Shanghai.
